Registration for the 2017 NRPA Annual Conference, Now Open

Actor and Comedian, Matt Iseman, to deliver keynote address

Ashburn, Va. (May 1, 2017) — Registration for the 2017 National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Annual Conference is now open. The conference, which will feature more than 200 education sessions, including a new aquatics track, will be held Sept. 26–28, 2017, in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Matt Iseman, host of American Ninja Warrior, will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, Sept. 26 during the opening general session.      

In addition to the NRPA general session, there are 11 education tracks that attendees can choose from, including:

  • Advocacy
  • Aquatics
  • Conservation
  • Employee and Volunteer Management
  • Health and Wellness
  • Leadership and Management
  • Planning, Design and Maintenance
  • Professional Development
  • Public Relations and Marketing
  • Recreation and Sports Programming
  • Research
  • Revenue and Customer Service

These tracks will be presented in a variety of formats, including speed sessions, mobile workshops and glass room sessions. Pre-Conference Workshops and Off-Site Institutes are available, as well. Attendees interested in an active, lively and memorable education experience are encouraged to explore NRPA’s Learning Playground where no sitting in chairs is allowed.    

Everyone is invited to attend the unveiling of NRPA’s eighth Parks Build Community project on Sunday, Sept. 24. This year, NRPA is working with the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC), along with donors and local companies, to transform portions of the Lafitte Greenway into a vibrant public space where residents of all ages can gather and play. The Lafitte Greenway is a 3-mile linear park with a bicycle and pedestrian trail that connects City Park to Louis Armstrong Park, which borders the French Quarter.
