NRPA Announces New Business Council Chair and Member

Ashburn, VA (March 7, 2024)

Collaboration between NRPA and business-sector allies deploys solutions to improve parks and recreation

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the nation’s leading advocate for parks and recreation, is proud to recognize and celebrate the new chair of the NRPA Business Council and accomplishments of the council from the previous year.

The Business Council serves as a strategic advisory group, giving the business community a voice and bridging the gap between the private and public sectors to build healthy communities through the power of parks and recreation. This year’s council will be led by Chad Kaufman, president of Public Restroom Company.

“We are grateful to our Business Council members and are excited to have Chad Kaufman leading the work of the council this year,” said Kristine Stratton, NRPA president and CEO. “This collaboration and fellowship is vitally important for the future of parks and recreation because of the innovative work of these passionate allies. They respond to emerging challenges facing the field and provide strategic thought partnership to NRPA. We are proud to celebrate the Council’s accomplishments from the past year.”

In 2023, the council worked diligently to identify solutions and advocate for parks and recreation. During the 2023 NRPA Annual Conference in Dallas, they held a joint meeting with the NRPA Board of Directors to help set the future direction for the organization by providing input on the organization’s new strategic plan. Additionally, they have been supporting NRPA’s advocacy work on the Outdoors for All Act, a vital piece of legislation that will help ensure everyone, no matter their zip code, has access to a great park.

“We are looking forward to another productive year of advocating for the field and building on our accomplishments from 2023,” said Chad Kaufman, NRPA Business Council chair and president of Public Restroom Company. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead this group of dedicated professionals who know firsthand the impact that parks and recreation has on a community.”
