Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification

BECOMING AN AFO

The Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) program is designed for pool operators and management staff in aquatic facility operation and management. Certification can be achieved by passing the AFO Certification examination. The examination is fifty questions AFO examination, with a score of seventy-eight percent (78%) or better.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

  • AFO course - a two day training program designed to educate individuals on the systematic approach to pool operations including pool chemistry, management, pool safety and risk reduction
  • AFO Manual - a comprehensive training manual for AFO certification; reviews organization, safety, risk management, filtration, circulation and control, basic chemistry, and purchasing
  • Aquatic Facility Operator Prep Course -an online preparatory course for individuals interested in taking the AFO Certification examination

CERTIFICATION RENEWAL

Renewal of the AFO Certification ensures that professionals are knowledgeable of the current best practices in aquatic facility operation and management.

Renewal method 1 - Individuals must successfully passing the AFO examination
Renewal method 2 - Completion of 2.0 Continuing Education Units in the aquatic field. Download a list of applicable CEUs.
