What’s New for Congress in 2014?

May 1, 2014, Department, by National Recreation and Park Association

You never know what you’ll find at NRPA Congress, as this young professional learned in Houston.Make your plans now to join thousands of park and recreation professionals in Charlotte, North Carolina, from October 14–16. NRPA and the Congress Program Committee have been working hard to create new and exciting opportunities to learn, network and share. Here is just a sample of what’s in store for you this fall.

Learning Lounges — Sometimes there just isn’t enough time to meet with the speakers following a session. That is why NRPA created the Learning Lounges. Situated on the exhibit hall floor, these smaller, more intimate learning opportunities give you a chance to meet one-on-one with speakers to ask questions and discuss solutions.

Get Interactive — NRPA has created a loud, fun and interactive space for those sessions that need more than a podium and a microphone. Look for unique room configurations, active participant interaction and more.

Speed Sessions — Back by popular demand, these quick, lively and innovative sessions are designed to energize and inspire. You chose this year’s Speed Sessions, so don’t miss the opportunity to experience them.

New Networking Reception — There is nothing like a tailgate party, and that is just what NRPA will be hosting on the exhibit hall floor right before the opening reception. Come, hang out and get ready for the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Get Social — Whether you are on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest or other social media sites, NRPA wants you to share your experiences while in Charlotte. You will not hear, “please power down your cellular devices” during Congress. We want you to share what you are learning and who you are meeting.

There are a number of other learning opportunities and exciting additions to Congress that NRPA will be sharing in the coming months.
