Darden Foundation 

The Darden Foundation and NRPA have partnered to improve public parks and trails through the Great American Trails program. With additional support from LongHorn Steakhouse employees, grant projects in eight communities are improving parks and trails.

 

The Easton Foundations 

Through NRPA’s partnership with The Easton Foundations, the “Discover Archery” grant was offered to park and recreation agencies with existing archery programs. “Discover Archery” offers park and recreation professionals training and certification in archery instruction and access to specialized equipment.

 

Federal Partnerships 

Programs funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) empower park and recreation departments to develop collaborative partnerships in all sectors of a community. These partnerships focus on creating and improving policies that increase physical activity, improve nutrition, and decrease exposure to tobacco to help advance the nation’s efforts to prevent chronic diseases.

 

Food Research & Action Center and ConAgra Foods Foundation 

FRAC is the leading national nonprofit organization working to improve public policies and public-private partnerships to eradicate hunger and under-nutrition in the United States. The ConAgra Foods Foundation pursues sustainable solutions to end child hunger and teach kids about nutrition so they have the nourishment they need today to flourish tomorrow. Together, FRAC, the ConAgra Foods Foundation and NRPA are supporting park and recreation agencies’ ability to serve healthy snacks and meals to children in after school and summer programs.

 

Get to Know  

NRPA is partnering with Get to Know, a program that invites young people to experience nature firsthand and then share their experience by creating works of art, writing, photography, music, or video.

 

The Golf Course Builders Association of America Foundation 

The Sticks for Kids program ensures that children, regardless of socioeconomic status, have an opportunity to play golf. Promoting health and wellness while connecting youth with nature through play, the program has provided junior golf clubs to over 500 communities.

 

The Hershey Company 

Hershey’s Track & Field Games (HTFG) celebrated their 35th anniversary this year. Together, NRPA and HTFG have enhanced the awareness of track and field as a component of PLAY and achieved a greater number of active, healthy youth engaged in sports and the outdoors. The Games have become the largest youth sports program of its kind in North America promoting physical fitness for children 9 to 14 years old.

 

Kansas Health Foundation 

NRPA in partnership with the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) awarded grants to five park and recreation agencies in Kansas to enhance summer feeding programs while also offering fun health education opportunities and community gardening, impacting the lives of more than 500 children in the state. The Kansas Health Foundation is a private philanthropy dedicated to improving the health of all Kansans.

 

Major League Baseball 

NRPA’s partnership with MLB over the past several years has enabled approximately 1.3 million young people across the country to engage and participate in MLB programs.

 

National Basketball Association 

NRPA has a longstanding partnership with the NBA, working to connect existing park and recreation youth basketball programs with the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA program and resources including NBA FIT.

 

National Recreation Foundation NATIONAL RECREATION FOUNDATION 

A long-time partner with NRPA, the National Recreation Foundation (NRF) is funding “Taking the Plunge to Better Health”, an innovative park prescriptions model that links the healthcare system and local park and recreation agencies to increase physical activity in overweight or obese youth from disadvantaged urban communities.

 

The NRPA Golf Coalition 

The coalition brings together expertise, professional resources, research, and insight from its members to support and grow municipal golf. Coalition members include: American Society of Golf Course Architects, Audubon International, Golf Course Builders Association of America, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, National Alliance for Accessible Golf, National Golf Course Owners Association, National Golf Foundation, The PGA, The LPGA, and World Golf Foundation.

 

Rain CII Carbon LLC 

Rain CII Carbon has partnered with the NRPA to support park and recreation improvements within the communities in which their employees work and live. The company provides grant resources for nine park and recreation agencies to improve the park environment for the community and to engage their employees in volunteering.

 

Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation The Take Me Fishing program provides park and recreation agencies with resources that help build and grow recreational boating and fishing programs. NRPA has provided more than a half million children and families with opportunities to experience boating, fishing, and education focused on aquatic and environmental conservation.

 

Sprite 

NRPA and Sprite have partnered to refurbish and refresh neighborhood basketball courts in more than 50 communities through the Sprite Spark Parks program.

 

The Toro Company 

The Toro Company is partnering with NRPA to present the Green School with the objective of training and educating park and recreational professionals on how to be environmentally responsible in their operations, teach the community environmental stewardship, and position themselves as green advocates. The Green School equips practitioners to lead their communities in sustainability.

 

U.S. Paralympics 

U.S. Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), has partnered with NRPA to work toward the expansion of local community programs and opportunities for injured military personnel and the promotion of healthy lifestyles for individuals with physical disabilities. Additionally, the USOC has formally recognized NRPA as a Community-Based Multisport Organization member.

 

United States Tennis Association 

NRPA and USTA are working together to build healthier communities through tennis. For more than 10 years, NRPA has partnered with USTA to bring the Tennis in the Parks (TIP) strategic initiative to park and recreation agencies. Tennis in the Parks expands opportunities in your community for the public to learn and play the lifelong game of tennis.

 

Walmart Foundation 

The Walmart Foundation and NRPA have joined efforts to reduce child hunger and poor nutrition in the United States through NRPA’s Serving Communities program. The Walmart Foundation has enabled NRPA to provide resources to 40 underserved communities across the country to strengthen and expand their summer and afterschool food service programs, serving more than 16 million meals over the last two years.
