Since March 2020, most states have issued strict physical distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders in response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, shutting down nonessential businesses, schools, and other operations. These orders, and further guidance from national, state, and local public health officials have called for swift actions from every sector to respond to the pandemic, including local parks and recreation. In consultation with state and local public health officials, park and recreation professionals need to take steps to prioritize public health and support efforts to "flatten the curve."
