The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is looking for volunteers to host an Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) scholarship course. The purpose of this scholarship course is to give professionals who work in communities with access to fewer opportunities the chance to get AFO certified for free.

The AFO certification course provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date training on operations, mechanical systems, water chemistry, disinfection, safety and more. In this two-day course, attendees will gain a better understanding of the entire pool system and learn how to run all types of aquatic facilities safely, efficiently and confidently.

Why Host a Scholarship Course?

  • Hosting is as easy as providing a meeting space location for the course and exam. NRPA will provide the instructor, lunch and course/exam materials.
  • Your agency will provide an opportunity for professionals in communities near you to get AFO certified for free.
  • Hosts receive 5 complimentary registrations to get their own staff AFO certified.

To host a course, agencies must meet the minimum requirements below:

  • Park and recreation agency, municipal agency or nonprofit responsible for the maintenance and/or management of aquatic facilities
  • Agree to host the two-day AFO course and exam in May 2020
