National Recreation and Park Association Joins USA Today's 'A Community Thrives' Project on Crowdrise

Help the National Recreation and Park Association receive a $100,000 grant by donating to its CrowdRise fundraiser.

Ashburn, Va. (April 2, 2018) — The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is participating in A Community Thrives, a fundraising project on CrowdRise,the largest crowdfunding platform for good. A Community Thrives is a USA TODAY NETWORK nation-wide program that is focused on helping organizations related to wellness, arts & culture, and education. Participating organizations will compete for $600,000 in available grant money. NRPA has joined the project on CrowdRise in hopes of raising money to advance parks, recreation and environmental conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all people.

NRPA is the leading non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of public parks, recreation and conservation. Its work draws national focus to the far-reaching impact of successes generated at the local level. Leveraging their role in conservation, health and wellness, and social equity to improve their communities NRPA’s members of park and recreation professionals and advocates are 60,000 strong and represent public spaces in urban communities, rural settings and everything in between.  The A Community Thrives project is a wonderful opportunity to support NRPA’s core mission because everyone deserves a great park.

NRPA began participation in the A Community Thrives event on CrowdRise in March and needs to raise $6000 by May 11 at 11:59am ET in order to qualify for a $100,000 grant. There will be up to 16 grants awarded by the Gannett Foundation:

  • Six (6) Tier 1 Grants in the following amounts: $100,000, $50,000, $50,000, $25,000, $15,000, $10,000​​
  • Six (6) Tier 2 Grants in the following amounts: $100,000, $50,000, $50,000, $25,000, $15,000, $10,000
  • Two (2) Tier 1 Fan Favorite Grants of $25,000 each
  • Two (2) Tier 2 Fan Favorite Grants of $25,000 each

CrowdRise administers innovative fundraising competitions for charitable organizations designed to build capacity, create massive engagement and leverage, and use the power of the crowd to provide new meaningful funding streams for organizations in every sector.
