NRPA 2021 Annual Report Showcases Collective Impact of Local Parks and Recreation

“Our Park and Recreation Story” highlights critical role park and recreation professionals play in equitable, healthy and resilient communities

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), today, released its 2021 Annual Report that highlights the association’s efforts to create equitable, resilient and healthy communities by investing in and championing local park and recreation professionals.

Despite an ongoing pandemic, NRPA, with the help of its members and partners, continued to build strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. Key achievements include:

  • $3.64 million invested in local communities
  • 966,932 people impacted through partnerships and programs
  • 94 communities supported through grants and technical assistance
  • 2,676 certifications awarded to park and recreation professionals
  • 31,678 online courses delivered to professionals

“I couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve accomplished over the past year,” said Kristine Stratton, NRPA President and CEO. “We’ve shared our park and recreation story far and wide and are proving that an investment in local parks and recreation is essential for strong, healthy and thriving communities.
