The National Recreation and Park Association offers the industry-leading certification program in playground safety, the Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification program. The CPSI certification program provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date training on playground safety issues including hazard identification, equipment specifications, surfacing requirements and risk management methods.

Please Note: NRPA is currently updating its technology systems, including our integration with our professional testing partner, PSI. As a result, please be aware of the following temporary changes:

  • Applications received after Tuesday, October 27: You will receive an eligibility email with information about scheduling your examination by Thursday, November 19, at the latest.
  • Examinations: No examinations can be scheduled or taken between Friday, October 30 and Tuesday, November 17.
