Physical activity and mental health are closely intertwined for many people. Less-than-ideal weather conditions outside do not mean a workout needs to be skipped. Local park and recreation agencies provide low-cost or no-cost opportunities year round to stay active indoors regardless of the conditions outside.

Eighty-four percent of U.S. adults look to indoor activities provided by park and recreation agencies to promote physical and mental well-being in times of inclement weather. When it comes to choosing those indoor activities, U.S. adults head for an indoor track or treadmill, strength train, do yoga or swim.

Key Findings:

  • Eighty-four percent of U.S. adults look to indoor activities provided by park and recreation agencies to promote physical and mental well-being in times of inclement weather
