National Girls and Women in Sports Day Microgrant
To celebrate the 2027 National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), NRPA and Nike are partnering to award five park and recreation agencies with $5,000 microgrants to host events that welcome girls and women into local sports opportunities. This grant opportunity will provide direct support to park and recreation agencies delivering activations that connect girls to sport in their communities, identify best strategies to increase participation in sports for girls and supporting women coaches in parks and recreation, and increase the knowledge and support of park and recreation professionals to increase access to sports for girls. Applicants must demonstrate how the proposed activation aligns with the eligibility requirements and are encouraged to propose an activation that reflects the unique needs and interests of girls and women in their community, whether through a sports festival, family event, skills clinic, leadership summit, recruitment event, showcase, or another creative format aligned with NGWSD goals. Applications are due October 23, 2026.
2027 Increasing Access to Sports for Girls and Women
Supported by Nike, NRPA is now accepting applications for the 2027 Increasing Access for Girls and Women in Sports Grant. This grant opportunity aims identify successful, replicable strategies that increase sports participation among girls, support women coaches in parks and recreation, and strengthen the knowledge and capacity of park and recreation professionals to increase access to sports for girls. Through this grant, NRPA will select ten to participate in a Community of Practice (CoP) focused on testing and piloting strategies that increase access to sports for girls. Selected agencies will receive $20,000 to support their participation and engagement in the CoP, and to implement strategies to increase access and participation in sports for girls and supporting women coaches. Eligible applicants include local government agencies that plans, builds, and/or operates parks (e.g., municipal park and recreation department, tribal recreation department, park district, public works department that manages parks, etc.) or affiliated 501c(3) non-profit organizations. 2027 Youth Sports Mini Pitch/Lighting Activation Grant
Supported by Musco Lighting, NRPA is now accepting applications for the 2027 Youth Sports Mini Pitch/Lighting Activation Grant. This funding opportunity will help local park and recreation agencies address barriers to youth sports participation, increase access to youth sports, and improve the quality of youth sports opportunities. Through this grant, NRPA will award seven park and recreation agencies or affiliated 501c(3) non-profit organizations with a $20,000 cash grant to activate recreational spaces and expand youth sports opportunities. Grantees will also have the opportunity to request $50,000 to $100,000 in support of an in-kind infrastructure donation from Musco Lighting, which may be used for either a lighting system or Mini-Pitch™ installation. In addition, grantees will also participate in a learning community and receive technical assistance to drive sustained progress toward ensuring all youth can access sports programs and facilities in local parks and recreation. 2026 Youth Development Application of Interest
NRPA invites park and recreation agencies and affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to complete the 2026 Youth Development Application of Interest. The application of interest will help NRPA understand youth development needs, strengths, and opportunities to enhance youth development programs, including youth mentoring, workforce development, and character building through youth sports, and inform future NRPA funding opportunities. This is not an active funding opportunity; if funding becomes available, applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal specific to the funding opportunity. Submissions are due September 15, 2026.
NRPA x MLS GO Play Fund
NRPA is partnering with MLS GO and RCX Sports to distribute up to $100,000 through the MLS GO PLAY FUND to support local park and recreation agencies. The fund provides annual financial support to help offset seasonal costs for MLS GO League operators and individual players. These funds can help you expand your league, reach more kids in your community, and ensure every child has the chance to experience the joy of soccer! Applications are due December 31, 2026. Agencies must apply and complete the process to become an MLS GO League operator as part of eligibility.
