NRPA Announces Partnership with Sensodyne to Support Improvements to Parks

(April 25, 2022)

Ashburn, VA. --  The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the nation’s leading advocate for parks and recreation, has partnered with Sensodyne, to revitalize parks and outdoor spaces across the country to improve the quality of life of communities and their residents.

Three parks across the United States will receive necessary improvements: Lynnbrook Park (Chattanooga, Tennessee), Wissahickon Valley Park (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and Walnut Creek Wetland Park (Raleigh, North Carolina).

Once an empty lot that regularly experienced flooding issues, Lynnbrook Park will be transformed into a central place for peaceful gatherings featuring a restored stream, natural and native plantings, rain gardens and new play equipment.

Wissahickon Valley Park will be rehabilitated after years of damaging rain events and the loss of a thousand acres of trees, including its beloved tree canopy. It will receive sustainable upgrades and beautification planting.

Walnut Creek Wetland Park, previously a dumping ground subject to extensive flooding, was transformed into a park and nature preserve in 2009. After a comprehensive community engagement process to inform the creation of a park master plan, the park will receive vital park restoration activities and support the creation of a new food forest.

“These enhancements ensure all people benefit from parks and open spaces that are not only resilient and regenerative, but support individual and community health and well-being,” said Kellie May, NRPA Vice President of Programs and Partnerships. “NRPA is grateful for Sensodyne’s support to nourish these communities.”

“Sensodyne is proud to be partnering with NRPA to improve parks in need across the country,” said Jason Milligan, Vice President, US Oral Health GSK Consumer Healthcare. “We’re excited to continue to create real, positive impact on the environment, with the help of NRPA, and look forward to seeing these parks thrive.”
