More than half (54%) of U.S. adults are likely to vacation close to home this summer, given the global COVID-19 pandemic.

This is especially true among Millennials (61%) and parents (66%) who say they are more likely to pick a vacation spot close to home.

Local park and recreation professionals and their agencies provide a variety of safe and affordable nearby activities for everyone — including:

  • Walking/Hiking/Biking
  • Swimming
  • Picnicking
  • Taking a Virtual Class
  • Gardening
  • Fishing

Each month, through a poll of 1,000 U.S. residents focused on park and recreation issues, NRPA Park Pulse helps tell the park and recreation story. Questions span from the serious to the more lighthearted. The survey was conducted by Wakefield Research.
