Parks and Recreation: Preferred Provider of Before- and After-School Care

October 1, 2019, Department, by National Recreation and Park Association

Park Pulse 410

Each month, through a poll of 1,000 U.S. residents focused on park and recreation issues, NRPA Park Pulse helps tell the park and recreation story. Questions span from the serious to the more lighthearted.

This month's question:  How important is it, if at all, for local parks and recreation agencies to provide affordable before and after school services to children and young adults?

Ninety-percent of adults believe it's important for park and recreation agencies to provide affordable before- and after-school care to children and young adults.

These services include tutoring and homework help, fitness and play opportunities, and the availability of healthy snacks.

Regardless of income, age, education or having children in the household, people agree, providing affordable before- and after-school care for our nation's youth is important!

The survey was conducted by Wakefield Research. Visit NRPA's Park Pulse page for more information.
