Embracing ADA Compliance

August 1, 2014, Department, by Molly Andrews

We know your agency goal is to provide outstanding service to your community. To that end, we know you also want people with disabilities to have ready access to all your recreation facilities and parks. One critical way to achieve this goal is by complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) regulations address public agency recreation facilities, sports fields and courts, fitness centers, pools, golf courses, boating and fishing areas, and more. States, cities, counties, special districts and other governments with sites that do not meet current DOJ regulations can be vulnerable to costly administrative complaints, settlement agreements and court orders.

NRPA has partnered with Recreation Accessibility Consultants LLC, to provide NRPA Premier members with a five percent discount on all existing site access audits and services. Large projects, in excess of $100,000, can receive an additional one percent discount, with a maximum of nine percent discounted. This firm has worked with enforcement agencies, provided training for DOJ enforcement staff, and has career experience in public parks and recreation.

Don’t hesitate to contact Recreation Accessibility Consultants LLC today to take advantage of this exclusive NRPA member discount!
