Barbara Tulipane, CAE, president and CEO of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) issued the following statement in response to the FY18 omnibus spending bill passed by Congress:

“The passage of the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill is a big win for local parks and recreation. Funding for all the federal programs we support — including the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant program and the 21st Century Community Learning Center program — has been significantly increased. Thank you to Congress for recognizing the important work that park and recreation agencies do every day to make communities better.”
