Volunteer Management and Background Check Program

Operation TLC2 Registered Logo

Are you concerned about managing risk?

Do you need expert guidance regarding background checks?

Are you concerned about public safety when recruiting staff and volunteers?

Increasingly, there is public concern regarding the qualifications and backgrounds of volunteers working in public settings with children, youth, people with disabilities, and the elderly. This has resulted in greater attention to risk management practices, quality assurance, and training.

Consider this:

  • Over 13% of all crimes are found outside the state of current residence.
  • Approximately 5% of volunteers cannot pass a criminal background check conducted in accordance with the NRPA Recommended Guidelines for Credentialing Volunteers

Operation TLC2 Making Communities Safe is a volunteer management and background screening program designed for NRPA members that ensures you attain the best, most qualified volunteers to support the safety and quality of life your community needs.  This program supports the NRPA Recommended Guidelines for Credentialing Volunteers, which were developed to ensure that members never grant the privilege of working with our most vulnerable populations without first qualifying volunteers through a comprehensive national criminal background check system.

With NRPA Operation TLC² Making Communities Safe, an agency receives:

  • The Safe Tool Kit including a Volunteer Management Manual with a Training DVD and all associated materials/forms.
  • Full-service national background checks at a preferred price that meets the NRPA Recommended Guidelines for Credentialing Volunteers and is consistent with The Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) Standards.

As a member of NRPA, you receive the Operation TLC2 Making Communities Safe Toolkit FREE of charge (a $995 value) with a minimum commitment of 10 background checks at a fee of $18.50 each! Non-members may purchase the Safe Tool Kit for $995 with a minimum purchase of 10 background checks at $21.50 each.
