NRPA Strategic Plan

This approach to strategic and operational planning was developed as an important step in ensuring that NRPA’s resources and energies are focused in the most productive and cost-effective manner possible. It presents strategic priorities designed to provide a clear and unified focus and direction for the work of the entire association-- including the national office, regions, branches, affiliates and sections--in order to enhance and expand service to member professionals and citizen leaders of park, recreation and conservation agencies. Additionally the strategic plan serves as the foundation for integrating annual budgeting, resource allocation and staff performance planning/management processes.

The strategic planning process is driven by the full Board of Directors in collaboration with NRPA staff. In the 3rd year of the three-year plan, The Chair-Elect leads the initiative as Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee with a smaller sub-group of BOD members, the NRPA CEO, and select staff to develop the next three-year strategic plan.

The mission of the Committee is to establish the ongoing oversight, development and dissemination, upon approval of the Board of Directors, of a three year rolling strategic plan for NRPA.
