About the School
The Pacific Northwest Resource Management School provides an educational setting to explore philosophies and techniques with a system of resource management and provides a training opportunity for persons who have responsibilities or interest in these fields. Students will gain a better understanding for stewardship of developed land, facilities and natural resources.
The first-year curriculum sets the foundation for developing a maintenance management plan and other related subjects to manage resources. The second year builds on what was taught in the first year, adding elements to give the student a complete structure on an adaptive maintenance management system. A third-year session is available to graduates of the second-year program.
This school is designed to serve park and recreation directors, supervisory personnel, and those aspiring to leadership positions in the park profession. Students are park and recreation directors, maintenance supervisors, park rangers and field staff. Each year students and faculty meet for an intensive week-long session building skills in both active park space maintenance and management of natural resource areas.
Keynote Speaker
Curt Marsh Sunday, February 22
Curt Marsh is known as a highly respected public speaker who has spoken at numerous schools and businesses since 1991. Marsh, of the 1983 Super Bowl Champions, the Oakland Raiders, was rated a top player in the NFL, but his career was cut short due to a severe ankle injury, leading to the amputation of his right foot and ankle.
After being fitted with an artificial leg, Curt was determined to not let his disability hinder him, and started to train for events organized for wheelchair and amputee athletes and won the gold medal in the “1995 Wheelchair and Amputee National Championships” for power lifting. Curt began volunteering as a motivational speaker and in 1990, was hired as the Youth Programs Coordinator for the City of Everett, Washington.
After serving the City of Everett for nine years, Curt ended his career as Superintendent of Recreation, where he and his team won prestigious local and national honors for outstanding service to youth. Marsh emphasizes four of the most important things in life, are having dignity, respect, care and compassion for other people.
