NRPA’s Online Community Forums Discuss Golf and the Recession

NRPA's online community forums discuss golf and the recession.“As the economy has begun to pick back up, has your agency seen an increase in play and revenue at your golf courses? In what ways are you seeing people return to golf and other leisure opportunities that come with an expense?”

At the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course in Brookline, Massachusetts, we’ve seen a steady increase in our rounds of golf played as well as our golf revenues. One area where an increase in rounds has been noticeable is with our female golfers who are playing more often with their friends rather than a spouse. As for revenues, we’ve noticed an increase in our merchandise sales largely due to more players frequenting the golf course, but more importantly having a golf shop that is fully stocked with products specific for all customer types.
