NRPA Statement on Senate Confirmation of EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt

(February 17, 2017)

Barbara Tulipane, President and CEO of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) issued the following statement on the Senate confirmation of Scott Pruitt, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“Local governments don’t have the luxury of engaging in political battles around climate change — they must deal with the environmental challenges they face every day. Regardless of political beliefs, we as an organization have a responsibility to ensure our environment is protected from the adverse effects of climate change,” said Barbara Tulipane, NRPA President and CEO. “We will continue to work with the EPA on implementing cost-effective green infrastructure solutions that help reduce flooding and manage stormwater runoff. We urge the EPA to be a good partner in helping provide local governments solutions to adapting to a changing climate. Through our work with the EPA, our priority is to make sure we’re providing clean air and water for all — especially those that are most vulnerable to flooding, increased temperature changes and other environmental challenges,” said Tulipane.
