About the Summit

With a generous grant from the National Recreation Foundation, NRPA will host the first ever National Health and Livability Summit in Atlanta, April 17-19. With high-impact organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials involved, this premier event will examine the vital contributions that park and recreation agencies make to increase the quality of life, health and livability of the individuals and communities they serve.
 
 
Key focus areas of the Summit include:

- The science of obesity and its growing trend in the United States
- Physical activity and nutrition
- Public/private partnerships
- Health disparities/at-risk populations
- The built environment
- Safety and preparedness
