We’ll admit it – being a first-time attendee and a young professional at the NRPA Annual Conference could be a scary thing. You walk through the conference doors to a sea of thousands of park and recreation professionals. At that moment you have a choice – you can either approach it apprehensively or dive right in and make the most of your experience while you are there.

For Kendrick Mayes, a first-time attendee AND young professional at the 2014 NRPA Congress in Charlotte, North Carolina he chose the latter and the results…well, we’ll let him tell you directly in this video interview with fellow member of the Young Professional Network, Jay Tryon, CPRP.

In the video they will cover:

  • The real impact the conference can have on professional development and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Tips and guidance for young professionals considering attending, such as essentials to bring with you and how to prepare before the conference even starts.
  • How you can get financial support for attending. HINT: Kendrick shares great tips for securing an NRPA scholarship.
  • Why all young professionals should attend the NRPA Annual Conference and more.
