The nation's premier leadership development program for park and recreation executives.
We are accepting applications for Year I of the 2010 Directors School. To apply, submit the online application and email your updated resume, organizational chart, and (if applicable) recommendation letter to Melanie Scoggins. If you submit your application by Friday, February 19, 2010 you will be eligible to apply for the NRPA Scholarship. Applications accepted through Friday, July 2, 2010 will be considered for admission, but not for the scholarship.

About the School
The Directors School is a two-year program designed to prepare new and potential directors of parks and recreation agencies for the challenges of leading and managing effectively.
The curriculum is based on the Agency Accreditation (CAPRA) standards and the reading material will be Management of Park and Recreation Agencies, edited by Betty van der Smissen, Merry Moiseichick and Vern Hartenburg.
The 2010 school will be offered August 21 – 27, 2010. Year I and Year II schools will be conducted simultaneously.
The three sponsoring organizations are the Oglebay National Training Center, National Recreation and Park Association, and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management at North Carolina State University.
Who Should Attend
Candidates must be one of the following to qualify to attend this program:
- A current park or recreation director;
- A current park or recreation assistant/deputy director;
- A mid-level manager being groomed for a park and recreation director position.

- August 20 to 26, 2011
- August 25 to 31, 2012
