As you maneuver through Congress there are endless opportunities to connect with others in a variety of settings. Whether you are in education sessions or in the Expo Hall, every opportunity lends itself to meeting new people. If you are looking for great ideas on how to connect with others here are events you will want to make sure you attend.
Monday, October 13, 12 – 5:30 p.m.*
The Tradition Golf CourseEntry fee: $100, includes: transportation, green & cart fees, range balls, box lunch, awards, goodie bag
Join us at one of Mecklenburg County’s top golf courses. John Cassell II carved a gem out of 197 acres of dense hardwoods when he designed The Tradition on beautiful rolling terrain.
The result is a majestic layout that delights the senses and thoroughly challenges all facets of every player’s game. Register early and don’t forget to let us know if you need loaner clubs.
*Check-in, lunch and warm up is scheduled at 12 p.m. A shotgun start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Tuesday, October 14, 6 – 7 p.m.
Exhibit Hall, Charlotte Convention Center
Every great party has an amazing pre-party! Prior to the Opening Party, come to the Exhibit Hall floor for the Tailgate Party. Meet with vendors and suppliers, grab some appetizers and drinks, and maybe even run into a NASCAR personality or two. This event will get you primed for the Opening Party.
Tuesday, October 14, 7 – 9 p.m. The NASCAR Hall of Fame
From the Tailgate Party to the Hall of Fame. Join your colleagues at the NASCAR Hall of Fame for an evening of socializing, networking and competition! Grab a drink and a bite to eat while you explore 60 years of NASCAR history. Stop by the High Octane Theater to be entertained and educated on NASCAR’s roots. Get up close and personal with some historic race cars at the Glory Road exhibit. You can even jump in a racing simulator to experience the track from behind the wheel.
Wednesday, October 15, 7 – 8:30 p.m.The Westin Charlotte
Recognize the inspirational people and programs that remind us daily of the phenomenal work being done in the field, including the 2014 National Award Recipients, newly Accredited and Re-Accredited Park and Recreation Agencies and Academic Programs, the 2014 Young Professional Fellows and Diversity and Student Scholarship Recipients, and professionals who have recently achieved their CPRP or CPRE designations.
Thursday, October 16, 7 – 9 a.m.Little Sugar Creek GreenwayEntry fee: $35, includes: t-shirt, awards, transportation, refreshments
Join us for an exciting 5K run/walk on the newly built Little Sugar Creek Greenway. The event will begin just outside of Uptown Charlotte at the Metropolitan and follow the greenway all the way to historic Freedom Park and back. On the route you will take in views of the beautiful Charlotte skyline and watch as the city wakens. This stretch of greenway allows you to experience the diverse culture Charlotte embraces.
Thursday, October 16, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.Crowne Ballroom, Charlotte Convention Center
Relax a bit before you head home to implement all of your great ideas. The Closing Reception will feature entertainment, drinks and desserts. In addition, you could win a free registration to NRPA’s 50th Congress next year in Las Vegas.
