Good News! The deadline for proposals has been extended. You now have until 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, November 22 to submit your session proposal.
We know the idea of getting up in front of your peers to share your knowledge and insight at the NRPA Congress and Exposition can be intimidating. Luckily, you are part of an organization where your Great Ideas are valued and want to be heard! Welcome back to the first vlog from the Young Professional Network’s Professional Development series after Congress in Houston. In this vlog, Atuya O. Cornwell, CPRP, Facility Manager, Wheaton Ice Arena, MD facilitates a discussion with Timia D. Thompson, Assistant Professor of Recreation and Leisure Services, Benedict College, SC and Sheema Hai, Adjunct Faculty Member, Community College of Baltimore County, MD about why you should submit an education session proposal for the 2014 Congress and Exposition in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Timia, a member of the Program Committee, is interested in providing quality and innovative sessions to NRPA Congress attendees and encourages everyone, especially Young Professionals and Students, to share their Great Ideas through an education session proposal.
Sheema, who led her first NRPA Congress session this year, shares how she was initially intimidated by presenting at a national conference. She found out, however, that it is actually simple to submit a session idea and that presenting at Congress opened the door for lots of networking opportunities.
Check out everything they have to say about education sessions and let us know what you think. What Great Ideas do you want to share with your fellow park and recreation colleagues? Are you thinking about collaborating on a session with a colleague? Let us know!
